Wonderfood Museum (Penang) – Giant IG-worthy Food & Over 100 amazing Malaysian Street Food Replicas

Penang is known for her delicious street food and cafe scene that there is even a museum dedicated to showcasing the food variety and culture of Malaysians.

Wonderfood Museum is not your typical historical museum. Here, bask yourself in a world of Malaysian street food represented by realistic-looking food replicas and their corresponding background story, dining scene reenacted by miniature models and amazing gigantic food look-alike that are great for photo-taking! The museum is split into sections which include a historical introduction, fun facts, food consumption, wastage and threats to wildlife.

Penang’s Wonderfood Museum is probably the most interesting museum I have been to. Everything is simply wonderful. I get to explore and learn about many types of dishes; and with every models looking so real, it’s almost like peering into a dish full of real ingredients.

There’s also food featured in all forms of colours (rainbow), black and white (rotten), and food suspended in mid-air (spillage, wastage).

These larger-than-life food replicas are definitely one of the biggest highlights at Wonderfood Museum. Pose and take photo beside them!

There’s everyone’s favourite Oyster Omelette, Chee Cheong Fun, Laksa, Roti Prata, Durian and Ice Kacang!

It’s very interesting to see food in various representations. You can see what food would look like when they are given the ‘gold’ treatment, and how it can be shaped into the Mona Lisa too.

There’s so much more than the photos here! Find out for yourself at Wonderfood Museum!
