The Durian Story at Serangoon – Singapore Popular Durian Stall

Once upon a thorn, The Durian Story is born.

Recently shifted from Upper Paya Lebar to its new location at Serangoon North Avenue 2, The Durian Story occupies an air-conditioned space under a HDB block. Often, we are used to eating durian in the open, but this is going to be a slightly different experience. You can dine in at the limited spacings within or choose to take away.

Slated to officially open in the next two weeks time, The Durian Story has been well-received by many locals. We went to for a durian feast on a Tuesday night and yes, it was packed with people and the queue was never ending.

The fragrance smell of durian lingered in the air as we stepped into the stall. Can’t say it was overwhelming since I love durian a lot.

The name ‘The Durian Story’ sounded like a fantasy come true.

At The Durian Story, you get a variety like the Mao Shan Wang 猫山王 ($16/KG), King of the King 王中王 ($18/KG) and Black Gold 黑金 ($23/KG). The owners have also revealed that they will be bringing in more kinds of durians such as the Black Pearl 太元 , Golden Phoenix 金凤 and Red Prawn 红虾 to name a few.

Wow, I can’t wait to sink my teeth into those rich creamy flesh!

We tried the Black Gold (first photo at top of post) and the Mao Shan Wang (below).

The Black Gold was well-received by us due to its rich creamy flesh, with a bitter and alcoholic taste.

For those who prefer a sweeter version, the Mao Shan Wang would be a sensation on your taste bud.

On a side note, there is also delivery services provided. So there’s no reason for you to miss this.

Just keep calm and jiak durian!
