The Affogato Lounge – Alcoholic Coffee-based Desserts & Cocktails at KēSa House, Keong Siak Road

The Affogato Lounge is the second concept by The Affogato Group, following the success of its sister cafe, The Affogato Bar, at Cluny Court. Opened in KēSa House along 55 Keong Saik Road, The Affogato Lounge boasts a homely Instagrammable space with comfy couches perfect for lazing in the afternoon.

As its name suggests, the menu is predominantly coffee-driven, with coffee-based ice cream desserts and cocktails. Need something savoury to go along? There are also paninis and cheese platters to fill your bellies.

Tiramisu ($20)

What can be more indulging than having The Affogato Lounge’s signature alcoholic affogato!

The deconstructed tiramisu is ensembled with a scoop of dark espresso ice cream over thick creamy mascarpone and ladyfingers, completed with two shots of Paramount. The coffee and alcoholic taste in this dessert is comparatively stronger.

Fleur de Caramel $15

There are four types of Affogatos to choose from where each comes with a different ice cream flavour and its respective toppings.

The Fleur de Caramel contains salted caramel ice cream with 55% brownie-like base, dark cacao bits and salted caramel sauce. It’s served with a double shot of Empire on the side.

Those who prefer a nuttier profile can opt for the Hazelnette $16 with hazelnut ice cream and noisette.

Trilogy $16

Definitely my favourite and most satisfying dessert, the Trilogy lends a stronger, richer taste with the inclusion of the 70% dark chocolate sorbet, caramel blanc, single origin dark cocoa, and double shots of Fitzroy. Nothing sweet here. It is purely chocolatey and espresso-driven.

On a side note, the ice cream at The Affogato Lounge are all homemade in micro-batches and pacotized to ensure minimal air and to yield a smooth, creamy texture.

Not to be missed are the cocktails, served from 5PM onwards on weekdays and 3PM onwards on weekends and public holidays.

The six curated cocktails ($20 each) are presented three ways: with coffee, tea and marmalade.

In collaboration with local tea brand, Pryce Tea, the Ashen and Auburn are both smooth blends of liquor with tea and a touch of citrus. Strait Preserve’s Spice Island Marmalade and Tropical Calamansi Marmalade also found a spot in the Eldorado and Savannah where the former is a whisky-based cocktail, light and refreshing with a foamy egg white layer on top.
