Tea Lounge At Regent Hotel Singapore – Why It Remains My Top Spot For Weekend High Tea

I have to confess that I enjoy chilling with friends over lavish high tea. There was a crazy period of time where almost every other weekend, I would be scouting for a high tea session to bring my girlfriends along. That said, I have unabashedly been to most of the high tea buffets in Singapore. Of which, a handful topped my list of best spot for high tea.

Tea Lounge at Regent Hotel Singapore has always been my favourite. Coincidentally it was also the first high tea session I had attended many years ago and felt in love since then. Being here more than my fingers could count is a testament to how much I love this place.

What makes me revisit time and again is that the menu is always changing. I get to try different food creations each time I am there.

Most importantly, I go back for specific items I like as well – the caviar, signature scones, fried wings, desserts and unlimited TEALEAVES teas.

In the background, I can enjoy the sweet harmony played by the pianist.

Coupled with really attentive and prompt service, I have nothing much to lament about.

It is no wonder that prior reservation has to be made as it can get really crowded during the weekends.

In the few years I have been going to the Tea Lounge, standard remains relatively the same.

From the moment I am being ushered in, to being served and then footing the bill, each step is taken with care.

I can still recognise familiar faces around. Since it is common for service staffs to come and go in the f&b industry, I thought the ability to retain the same employees within the company is applaudable.

Occasionally I was asked for my feedback. In fact, I felt oddly at ease when it comes to giving my thoughts on my experience each time I am there.

High tea and afternoon tea are rather different. The common idea of high tea is that it is held on weekends and in a buffet style while afternoon tea catered to weekdays afternoon in tier set. Though there are certainly exceptions depending on the establishments themselves.

High tea offers more variety too, since it is a buffet after all. In the case of Tea Lounge at Regent Hotel, the spread consists of salad, smoked fishes, caviar station, open-faced sandwiches, sushi to heartier local delights like laksa and carved meats, while not forgetting the cheese section with accompaniments and a huge selection of delectable desserts.

Sometimes the chef comes out with specials of the day. For instance, we had Hokkein Mee and Prawn Tempura in Passionfruit Sauce during our recent visit.

I must also mention that the desserts never fail to disappoint.

Pardon me for I can’t help but bring in Basilico, the Italian restaurant located on the second floor of Regent Hotel, and Dolcetto by Basilico as well. Having dine in both Tea Lounge and Basilico, I have to admit that the pastry team has done a really wonderful job on their dessert. Not only are the desserts exquisite-looking, taste and flavour are generally consistently good.

While indulging in all the yummy goodies, diners can even have multiple rounds of tea or coffee. It is definitely worth your penny and stomach space to sip on those TEALEAVES teas of such strength and fragrance.
