Taikoo Lane Hotpot (Chinatown Point) offers Individual Pots with Unique Broths & Good Sichuan Cuisine

Taikoo Lane Hotpot 太古里火锅 is a new concept brought in by Chengdu Restaurant, known for its authentic Sichuan cuisine. Tucked in the basement of Chinatown Point, Taikoo Lane Hotpot offers Sichuan and Cantonese hotpot broths in individual pots or large sharing pots, alongside various hotpot ingredients, signature grilled skewers and Sichuan cooked dishes.

Single pot set meals start from $9.90 onwards with choices from eight soup bases and staples. For larger groups, there is an ongoing set promotion of $49.80 (U.P. $70) for three diners and $66.80 (U.P. $91.30) for four diners.

Free-flow of sauces, fruits and some side dishes are also available as self-service.

Menu

Broths

The belly warming broths comprise of the Sichuan Spicy Broth (made from 20 different spices and beef tallow instead of oil), Chengdu Green Pepper Broth (inspired by Chengdu Restaurant’s popular Fish with Green Peppercorn Soup dish), Fish Soup Broth with Fresh Milk (made from selected fresh fish and salmon bones), Collagen Nourishing Pork Bone Soup (made from a medley of pork bones, whole chicken, pig skin and spices) and Pumpkin Millet Soup (a comforting sweet vegetarian soup).

Hotpot Ingredients

Taikoo Lane Hotpot plays with unique presentations in their dishes, something you wouldn’t get from other hotpot restaurants.

The Lobster Noodle $39.80 is a DIY dish served in dry ice. After cooking the crustacean and noodles in the hotpot, you can mix-and-match with the six different condiments offered together.

Another interesting one is the Magical Growing Mushrooms $9.80 (served with an extra side of mushroom), featuring an assortment of mushrooms with asparagus, corn, tomatoes and egg planted in edible soil. As water is poured into the pot, the vegetables will all grow before your very eyes!

This plate of nicely twirled rose-shaped Spanish Iberico Black Pork Collar $17.80 is worth a go. Well-marbled and tender after being cooked, they also pair well with the various sauces.

Some other hotpot ingredients to go with include the must-try Spicy Marinated Beef $18.80, Shrimp Skewer $12.80 and Sliced Chicken with Green Peppers $10.80.

Cooked Dishes

Taikoo Lane Hotpot is not all only about hotpot. The cooked dishes fare equally well, if not, better.

Hands-down to the Grilled Frog Skewer $20.80 coated in their exclusive marinade before flash-frying over high heat. While the skin is crispy and laced with the traditional Sichuan sauce, the meat remains juicy with a tender bite to it.

Don’t bat an eye when you are having the Stellar-1 Pork Ribs $16.80. Let the bubble swells into a balloon and bursts to reveal the delicious chunks of pork ribs deliciously marinated in a blend of spices.

You really can’t go wrong with the Sichuan Fiery Skewer on Fire $12.80. We were told that that the aluminium foil wrapped around the skewers was lit with fire at the table to further lock in the flavours of the meats.

Besides the theatrics, the skewers ain’t bad and come in a variety.

The Taikoo Lane Potato $9.80 is probably one of the most unassuming dishes but comes highly recommended.

It is amazing how these little cubes of potatoes can taste so good. Nicely crisp on the outside with a soft fluffy texture inside, these darlings are then tossed in more chilli and cumin powder for that additional kick.

Dessert

Complete the hotpot experience with the palate-cleansing Ice Jelly with Milk Tea $6.80.
