Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg brings a farm-to-table concept to Singapore, offering affordably-priced Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef Hamburgs from $9.50 onwards.

Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg, also owned by the same people behind Hong Kong’s specialty yakiniku joint, Syohachi Yakiniku, has an exclusive partnership with the Hidakami Ranch in Miyagi-ken where they source their meat cuts from.

Located at One Raffles Place, Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg now adds a new lunch option for those working in the CBD.

Their menu signature, Syohachi Japanese A5 Wagyu Hamburg Steak set $16.50, comes with a round beef patty, singed around the edges. I thought that the beef patty was slightly too well-done to my liking and a tad dry.

Nevertheless, the sides were amazing. Besides the fresh greens (comprising of mesclun, cherry tomatoes, red radish, corns and interestingly, nata de coco) and crunchy sliced pickles, the beef gravy over Japanese steamed rice (and topped with seaweed and mushroom) was velvety smooth and extremely palatable.

If that is too hearty a portion for lunch, you can go for the Syohachi Japanese A5 Wagyu Petite Hamburg Steak ($9.50 a la carte; $12.50 set) instead.

Meanwhile, the Japanese Butter Toasties are drool-worthy good. How can anyone resist melty cheese and omelette clasped between fluffy buttery toasts?

The three different flavours available are Chunky Peanut Butter with Condensed Milk Toastie ($5 a la carte; $8 set), Japanese Egg Omelette and Cheddar Cheese Toastie ($6.50 a la carte; $9.50 set), Syohachi Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef Toastie ($7.70 a la carte; $10.70 set). For the beef toastie, it is recommended to top up for a serving of Cheddar Cheese $1 and Egg Omelette $1 which would guarantee an elevated tasting experience.

Each order also comes with crispy tater tots, salad and pickles.
