Swensen’s is childhood to me; the place my family used to frequent during birthdays for the firehouse, the ice cream cake and of course, the signature Fish & Chips we never failed to order. It is also where I learnt that the mayonnaise I have come to love is called tartar sauce which remained my favourite dip till now.
Fast forward years later, Swensen’s menu has undergone several revamps. Besides the classic staples, there are new additions again this year with breakfast items, scrumptious appetisers, a dedicated section for gilled meat and seafood mains and ice cream desserts!
Look forward to new exciting breakfast items such as the Avocado Honey Toast $13.50, Swensen’s Sunrise Omelette $14.50 and Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict $14.90.
Resembling our local kaya toast, the avocado honey toast came with a slab of butter beneath a luscious scoop of mash avocado and honey, while sandwiched between two ciabatta. The combination of sweet and savoury fillings was accompanied with creamy scrambled egg, hash brown and mesclun salad on the side.

Tuck into the Buckaroo Wings $9.90, which features a mix of drumlets and wings fried till crispy and served with a portion of tangy pineapple barbecue dip.
Salad-goers can opt for the Smoked Salmon Salad $13.60 and Caesar Salad with Breaded Fish $12.90 too.
My dad would swoon at this Fisherman’s Catch Baked Rice $14.90 – his kind of rice-based dish. The portion was impressive with generous chunks of fish fillets, blue mussel and shrimps blanketed in melted cheese and tomato, over a hearty base of lemongrass infused wild rice.
The Crayfish Pasta $17.90 had me craving for more. Living up to popular demand, the tomato-based al dente pasta was stirred in with more fish fillets, crab sticks and mushrooms as if the two halves of the giant crayfish were not enough. I was glad that the flesh of the crayfish was tender and not the overly chewy type.
Relish in an elevated menu of grilled meats and seafood at Swensen’s.
The eclectic selection is bound to leave you spoilt for choices with the Tenderloin Steak $25.90, Grilled Fish with Meuniére Sauce $16.90, Battered Fish & Chips $15.90 and Deep Fried Salmon with Chili Jam $19.90.
For the ravenous, the Hooked On You Combo $22.90 (grilled dory fish fillet and king prawns with salsa) and We Meat Again Combo $25.90 (chicken and sirloin steak with a choice of barbecue, sambal or black pepper sauce) would satisfy you well.
Every order of a grilled main also comes with two complimentary sides where you can choose from Cheesy Macaroni, Savory Rice, Hot U.S. Fries, Steak Cut Fries, Mashed Potatoes, Coleslaw and/or Seasonal Garden Veggies.
Unveiling the two new flavours, they are the Salted Butterscotch Crumble and Wild Floral Honey Crumble. I was swept by the unique pleasant taste of the wild floral honey crumble which was light on the tastebud yet strong in character.
