SUN With MOON Aomori Food Fair with Japan’s Seafood Produce

Diners at SUN With MOON Japanese Dining and Cafe can feast on the delicacies of northern Japan with the release of the restaurant’s newest seasonal menu for this Aomori Food Fair. Luscious seafood-based dishes and sizzling hot pots and plates await to whet appetites and stimulate taste buds.

Kick off your meal with a rich serving of Mutsu Bay Hotate Kinoko Kayaki Miso ($12.80) – eye-catching butter scallops and mushrooms served in a half-shell and cooked to perfection in front of you. The scallops are generously portioned, succulent, and complimented by the rich flavours of mushroom and eggs in a simple, yet hearty tasting stew.

Another regional starter worth mentioning is the Hirosaki Ika Menchi ($12.80), a trio of deep fried minced squid balls mixed with cabbage and carrot. Originating from the Hirosaki region, this savoury starter is best paired with warmed sake, almost like a bar snack.

The Towada Barayaki ($16.80) is a sizzling hot plate of sliced beef short plate and sliced onions with Aomori seasoning sauce. Comforting and filling, the sliced beef short plate is extremely flavourful, and great for sharing on its own.

The highlight of the mains section is definitely the Mutsu Bay Hotate and Aomori Maitake Kamameshi ($21.80). Featuring succulent Mutsu bay scallops and Aomori maitake mushrooms steamed with seasoned Japanese rice served in a metal pot, this hearty blend of ingredients can be enjoyed on its own, or with a serving of kettle soup. Kind of like a porridge, but with more and better ingredients!

For ramen lovers, the Miso Butter Curry Milky Ramen ($17.80)is a must try. A regular looking bowl of ramen is topped with a cube of butter, resulting in a much richer, more savoury broth that is a delight to slurp up.

Aside from individual platings, diners can indulge in a selection of tapas styled appetisers in the Zensai Mori ($16.80), a platter of bite-sized mini sushi and other meat-based snacks available on the regular menu. The crab meat with asparagus and mentaisauce, and seared mini tuna steak with black pepper are a couple of standout appetisers from this sharing plate!

Other noteworthy appetisers from the regular menu include the Foie Gras Millefeuille ($15.80), which adds a Western touch to this otherwise quintessentially Japanese meal.

End your meal on a sweet note with SUN With MOON’s Dessert Trio ($9.80), a hot favourite consisting of Sun’s Tofu Cheesecake ($6.8 a la carte), Green Tea Ice Cream, and Kuirogoma Pudding ($5.80 a la carte).
