Simple Indulgence Patisserie Mooncakes Made Wholesome

I have to admit that I am not the biggest mooncake fan here. I always find them too sweet, fattening and boring with all the lotus paste. Not much of a baked skin mooncake lover, unless they are really well-made and delicious, I would opt for the snow skin ones.

Snow skin mooncakes come in more funky flavours. Sometimes you get a mix and match of really interesting ingredients and they just blend so well together. Sometimes they are a rendition of your everyday dish skilfully made into a tiny dessert.

In fact, it is nice to see many restaurants, cafes, bakeries and even home bakers churning out all sorts of mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival. This yearly affair is nothing short of indulgence – and I can see why Simple Indulgence Patisserie can easily become one of my favourites.

Simple Indulgence Patisserie prides itself in making mooncakes which are/have:

  • Made with real food flavours
  • No additional colouring
  • No preservatives
  • No shortening
  • No essence

This year, they have 2 NEW Limited Edition Mooncakes, 2 NEW Artisanal Enzyme Mooncakes and 4 Signature Premium Mooncakes.

Limited Edition Mooncakes

Butterfly Pea Gula Melaka Coconut Truffle

With low sugar lotus paste and coconut white chocolate ganache, this is surprisingly good given I have a love-hate relationship with having coconut in pastries.

I love how the different layers interacts in my mouth – the soft texture of the snow skin which tears apart to reveal a smooth layer of lotus paste, while the dark chocolate sphere cracks underneath my teeth, letting lose a coconut fragrance which immediately fills up my nostrils. Exquisite.

Pandan Salted Egg Yolk

This can be seen as a combination of modern and traditional flavours. I don’t usually see salted egg yolk in a snow skin mooncake, but hey, this can now cater to different tastebuds.

Artisanal Mooncakes

It’s stated on the website that these are more for corporate and regulars, but I have to say that I have enjoyed them tremendously. Filled with health benefits such as aiding in wealth loss and digestion, there’s no reason to skip on these mooncakes!

Artisanal Roselle Enzyme

The one and only kind I have ever eaten in my life is this festive-looking mooncake filled with aromatic Red Dates, Goji Berries and Walnut paste. It has a slightly thick chewy consistency probably due to the nature of the red dates. Tasted exactly like red dates such that I felt as if I am going on a date.

Low Sugar Ginger Enzyme Almond

Definitely less sweet than its predecessor, the nutty fillings gave off a roasted taste and the low sugar content of the white lotus paste simply makes this even more guilt-free.

Signature Premium

Not forgetting the usual favourites, especially with those lusciously rich fillings.

  • Black Sesame Raspberry Truffle *NEW
  • Japanese Yuzu White Chocolate Truffle
  • Matcha Azuki Truffle
  • Sea Salt Caramel Chocolate Truffle

Simple Indulgence Patisserie’s snow skin mooncakes are certainly healthier choices for the health-conscious, young and old alike. Besides mooncakes, natural ingredients are also used in their bakes such as cookies, cupcakes and cakes as well!
