Si Chuan Dou Hua – New Wellness Menu features Organic Ingredients like Ripe Cabbage & Mustard Green Flowers

Si Chuan Dou Hua at TOP of UOB Plaza partners with ZENXIN Agri-Organic Food to launch its first-ever “Soul Organic” (有机可乘) wellness menu which features a series of exclusive and curated organic treats.

Available from now till 30 November 2020, embark on a culinary journey where you get to explore and indulge in various seasonal produce such as the ripe Cabbage 成熟包菜 and the one-of-a-kind Mustard Green Flowers 芥菜花. Helmed by Executive Chef Chan Shun Wong, his culinary expertise and wonderful marriage of ingredients will allow you to savour the individual components at their best.

The Soul Organic set menu (which also includes a vegetarian menu) starts from $68++ per person and will rotate each month. It is also available a la carte for dine-in and delivery.

ZENXIN Agri-Organic Food is a leading organic food grower, wholesaler and retailer that originates from Malaysia. In this partnership with Si Chuan Dou Hua, you get to experience first-hand the taste of the mustard green flowers which are not available in the market.

We begun with the Chilled Organic Mustard Green served on ice. The vegetable yields a very surprising taste which resembles that of wasabi, but less pungent. It also comes with two sauces – Organic Honey and Mustard – for you to explore the different pairing.

The Organic Pumpkin Soup with Assorted Mushrooms, on the other hand, is lighter on the palette, rich in vitamin A and consists of a natural sweetness from the tomato and soup base.

It’s great to be able to explore the taste profile of the vegetables cooked in different ways. While vegetables are usually the accompaniment to a meat dish, the organic ones used here are all very crunchy and shine as brightly as their counterparts.

The organic spinach paired with the 48 Hours Braised Wagyu Beef won my heart in both texture and flavour, where the latter was amazingly tender.

Another favourite of mine was the Assam Organic Mustard Greens with Roast Pork and Dried Chilli. This version of the mustard greens would suit those who don’t fancy the bitterness that comes from the boiled mustard greens served at the start of the meal. The vegetable was cooked till soft but not limpy and the gravy was a delicious mix of tanginess, spiciness and sweetness.

The Stir-Fried Organic Cabbage with Sliced Beef and Dried Chilli is not your usual cabbage served on the plate. The cabbage used is perfectly ripen and you can easily identify it by its cracked appearance/split leaves (before cooked). This happens when the leaves have absorbed more moisture and are fully ripen which would make them sweeter and crispier.

For mains, there is a choice of Braised Rice with Red Quinoa and Black Truffle or Garoupa Fillet with Organic Fusilli Soup. If you like truffle, the braised rice comes strongly infused with truffle, whereas the organic fusilli soup reminds me of a rich bowl of collagen soup that’s filled with gluten-free pasta.

Dessert was mind-blowing. The Homemade Fine Beancurd with Organic Sweet Potato is an upgrade from Si Chuan Dou’s Hua’s signature beancurd dessert. The addition of the sweet purplish ‘dye’ made from real purple sweet potato and mini purple sweet potato bits add texture to the silky, melt-in-the-mouth beancurd.
