Sho Yakitori & Sushi, Millenia Walk – For Fresh Sashimi, Best Chirashi Dons & Unagi

Opened in August 2019, Sho Yakitori & Sushi is a relatively new Japanese restaurant at Millenia Walk. Besides specialising in unagi, yakitori and sushi as per their website, I have to add that the sashimi is really outstanding.

There is also a value lunch set at $13++ (limited to ten sets per day) and Asahi Draft Beer promotion at $6 per glass with free-flow of snacks at a top-up of $5. Each month from October to December, the Sake Pairing Menu and Unagi set refresh with new selections too.

Menu Promotions

The highly recommended dishes are the Chirashi Bakumori Don $28 which is a mega sushi rice bowl filled with an assortment of mixed raw fish cube and Ikura, and the Sanshoku Bakumori Don $26 that comes with three types of fishes – Raw Salmon, Tuna and Yellow Tail. The sashimi is chunky, tender and fresh.

Available in miniature version is the Chirashi Sushi Mini Wooden Box $12. Uni lovers can go for the Uni Ikura Mini Wooden Box $22, comprising of smooth creamy uni lobes and a generous dose of Ikura that pops in your mouth.

Look out for seasonal specials too!

The sushi maki is equally satisfactory, though the rolls can be quite chunky.

If you love eel, the Unagi maki $22 is worth a go. The grilled eel is succulent and sliced in huge portions. The Dragon Roll $26, on the other hand, features a gigantic tempura prawn rolled with cucumbers and topped with fresh creamy avocado. Both are good for sharing between three to four diners.

The Unagi Hitsumabushi $39.90 is one of my favourites too.

The live eel is imported from Japan and prepared in-house to ensure its freshness. Nicely grilled, each piece has a thin layer of crispiness to the texture while the inside remains moist and juicy. Along with the Yakumi condiments (wasabi, shredded seaweed and green onion), there are three ways of enjoying the unagi as well.

What’s beer without some yakitori to go along with?

Be spoilt for choice from the 20 listed grilled skewers. Some highlights include the Tsukune Mentai $4.50, Aspara Maki (with pork belly) $4, Enoki Maki (with pork belly) $4, Kagoshima Buta Bara $6 and Shishito $4.50.

Don’t miss the Chou Tansan Highball $14 that is made of Suntory Whisky with Japanese mineral sparkling water.
