PUTIEN DuoTou Clam Festival with Clams cooked in 8 Ways – Seasonal Promo

All hail the DuoTuo Clams, back in season till August! Making its comeback is the highly anticipated DuoTou Clam Festival where an amazing 50 tonnes of DuoTou clams were sold last year! These popular long-shelled molluscs are harvested from the coastal town of Pu Tian and air-flown live to all PUTIEN restaurants worldwide.

From now till 10th August 2018, dine at any PUTIEN restaurants in Singapore where you get to savour DuoTuo Clams cooked in eight different ways! This year, two new flavours are added to the selections, namely the Chilled DUOTOU Clam in Fermented Wine and Deep-fried DUOTOU Clam.

Till 10th August 2018, enjoy two different DuoTou Clam dishes (small portion) at $38.80. Available at all PUTIEN’s outlets.

These clams can grow as long as your index finger, about 6cm and harvesting them are very tedious as these are carried out manually by the farmers in DuoTou Village. The DuoTou meats are usually fleshy and depending on the way of cooking, they could be juicy.

Chilled DUOTOU Clam in Fermented Wine $22.80

This was one of my favourite dishes where the clams were marinated in fermented wine and chilled for at least two days to absorb the flavours. Dressed simply with parsley as garnishing, the clams delivered a whack of mellow sweetness and meaty indulgence.

Deep-fried DUOTOU Clam $22.80 (S) / $31.80 (M)

Tuck beneath the crusty coating was the firm and juicy DuoTou clam which had neither the briny nor chewy textures. The insides remained fleshy and fortunately, not shrivelled up. Taste-wise, they reminded me greatly of fried oysters. Needless said, it was amazing that clams can be made into such amazing snacks.

Best dipped into PUTIEN’s signature Spice Mum Chilli Sauce with promises of extraordinary goodness and tongue-numbing spiciness.

Baked DUOTOU Clam on Hot Plate $19.80 (S) / $29.80 (M)

I was told that to taste the DuoTuo clams in their original flavour, this would be the dish to prime your palette.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the clams were rather sweet and tender. Brushed it lightly across the salt surface and you would find the little bits of salinity touched you like the waves at DuoTou Village.

Stir-fried DUOTOU Clam with Ginger & Spring Onion $19.80 (S) / $29.80 (M)

You can’t really go wrong with stir-fried anything.

This is good to pair with rice to balance the savouriness of the sauce.

Steamed DUOTOU Clam with Minced Garlic $19.80 (S) / $29.80 (M)

I love garlicky clams and if you do, this would float your boat. Generously showered in minced garlic and shredded spring onions, these steamed clams would make a mean portion for just two pax (it could feed four for a ‘small’ order)!

Steamed DUOTOU Clam with Wine $22.80 (S)/ $31.80 (M)

I would definitely give in to an extra bowl for myself!

Though the bowl looked small, there were a lot of DuoTou clams stuffed within and steamed with traditional Chinese wine, Huadiao. The alcoholic broth gave the clams a new lease of life with an aroma that seeked no boundary. I was intoxicated.

DUOTOU Clam Soup with Tofu Meatballs $19.80 (S) / $29.80 (M)

I took a double take at the DuoTou Clam Soup with Tofu Meatballs. While the highlight laid in the clams, the tofu meatballs were another level; being fork-tender and unpretentiously simple.

More ingredients such as DuoTou clams, cauliflowers and snow peas were cooked together with the tofu meatballs in the big pot of soup.

DUOTOU Clam Omelette $19.80 (S) / $29.80 (M)

PUTIEN’s rendition of the omelette was one filled with clams, clams and more clams. Besides the eggy taste of omelette which I would prefer to be fluffier, I liked that each clam had remnants of omelette stuck to its surface such that I got to savour the best of both worlds all in one bite.

Besides the mind-blowing spread of DuoTou Clam dishes, PUTIEN also offers a wide range of Fujian delicacies such as the Braised Pig Intestine $14.90, ‘100-Second’ Stewed Yellow Croaker $13.80, Fried Heng Hwa Bee Hoon $9.50(S) $19.00(M), Stir-fried Yam $13.50(S) $20.20(M), Sweet & Sour Pork with Lychees $13.90(S) $20.80(M) and Deep-fried Pork Trotters with Salt & Pepper $6.50/pc.

PUTIEN puts no restraints in its dishes, seeking to wow in taste beyond theatrical appearances.
