Pho Street opens at Centrepoint with New Vietnamese Dishes

Fans of Vietnamese cuisine will be delighted to know that Pho Street has opened yet another branch, this time in the heart of downtown Singapore – Centrepoint!

So of course, I was eager to see what Vietnamese delicacies were in store.

Helmed by Chef Hà Vị Cang Kenny, the vibrantly themed outlet is tucked away in the basement level at Centrepoint, far from bustling coffee shops such as dal.komm and Starbucks.

It’s roughly two thirds the size of the Tanjong Pagar outlet, if memory serves me correctly. Kitchen staff were spotted busily whipping up dish after dish for the dinner crowd.

Making a special appearance on Pho Street’s menu this November and December are the Summer Rolls ($4.90 for 2pcs, $7.30 for 3pcs) – yes, in the last two months of the year.

While the prawn and fruit pairings might take some getting used to for more conservative palates, I personally found the summer colours very enticing. The spring roll skin does tend to stick after a while, so eat this quickly!

Not to be missed are Rice Vermicelli Wrap with Crispy Roasted Pork Belly ($6.90). While the pork belly looked slightly dry when it first arrived at our table, I was really surprised by how perfectly it melted in my mouth with every bite! A

nd let’s just say the pork belly skin really lived up to its name.

For something heartier, go for the Snack Platter ($8.90), which comprises of crispy pork rolls, roasted chicken and Vietnamese crab cakes. Such an appetising platter.

With the rainy season in full swing, Pho Street’s soup noodles are a must.

The Pho Beef Combination ($9.90) remains a classic with beef balls, beef slices, beef shank, beef tendons and beef tripe to please the ultimate beef lover. Noodles were springy and it was such a joy to slurp on.

Those with a spicier palate will love the Spicy Pork Combination Rice Vermicelli ($8.90) that comes with pork shabu shabu, pork ball, and minced pork. On top of the usual beansprouts, there’s even a generous serving of enoki mushrooms to munch on!

As for the broth, it really packs a punch.

Not a fan of soup? Then go for the Dry Rice Vermicelli with Grilled Pork Belly and Spring Roll ($8.90), guaranteed to fill growling tummies.

Larger groups can also indulge in more traditional sides at Pho Street.

One that particularly stood out to me was the Rice Crackers and Cucumber with Caramelised Pork and Dried Shrimp ($6.90); the sweet yet spicy kick of the caramelised pork and shrimp contrasted perfectly with the refreshing taste of cucumber, and I especially loved the different textures from all the ingredients combined.
