Patbingsoo Korean Dining House: Korean Street Food and Bingsoo Love

Conveniently located at basement 2 of Plaza Singapura, Patbingsoo Korean Dining House brings Korean street food to the table alongside an extensive selection of bingsoo.

Officially opened on 28th December 2016, Patbingsoo Korean Dining House distinguishes itself with a menu of interesting dishes such as the Rolling Cheese Pork Ribs, Dynamic Spam and Seafood Sundubu Pasta. We are in for an eye-opener!

Nothing beats having some nice fruity Makkoli and Soju to start the meal with.

Each priced at $11.90 comes in flavours such as Mango, Grape Yoghurt, Lychee and Passionfruit Yogurt.

Dynamic Spam $11.90 consisted of eight chewy nori riceballs and spam topped with an enticing special dynamic sauce. Spicy, sweet and creamy all at once, the extra torching of the surface made the flavours even more intense.

Patbingsoo Korean Dining House’s signature is this House Special Ramyeon $11.90, a surprisingly heartwarming dish filled with more spam, kimchi and nori in a thick spicy broth. The softness of the meats coupled with each strand of sauce-coated noodles was no doubt a favourite among many.

On to the highly anticipated meal of the day was the Rolling Cheese Pork Ribs (spicy/non spicy) $38.90 with a portion great for sharing. There were about six chunks of tender, meaty pork ribs amidst various side accompaniments such as the cheddar and mozzarella cheese, fries, chips, corn, pineapple and mayo, in spicy and non-spicy sauce.

After the cheese was being melted, the server would roll the super elastic stretch of cheese round each pork ribs. Look at how long the cheese could be stretched!

The pork ribs, almost as long as my face, were finger-licking good with fall-off-the-bone meats. Don’t take too many photos, but simply dig in while the cheese is still warm and gooey.

Instead of a stew, the Seafood Sundubu Pasta $13.90 came in the form of sautéed spaghetti with squids and crispy tofu. The mixing of the yolk into the noodles lent an eggy texture to the dish. As for the crispy tofu, they were pleasantly delicious with a light crisp coating and soft interior.

A little indulgence of some smaller plates include the Chicken Wings (3 per portion) $11.90 in Honey Garlic or Spicy sauce and Fried Samgyeopsal $6.90 which was sinfully good. Don’t miss out on the affordably priced Tteokkochi $5.90 wrapped with bacon and Popcorn Chicken $5.90 too.

Named after metro stations in Seoul, these range of Korean bingsoo will leave you spoilt for choice from the fruity Sinsa Patbingsoo $14.90 (rock melon), Yongsan Bingsoo $10.90 (orange marmalade) to unique ones like Gangnam Patbingsoo $8.90 (popcorn) and classics such as Chungmuro Patbingsoo $8.90 (green tea).

There is even an alcoholic version of bingsoo! The Incheon Bingsoo $11.90 consists of Tiramisu Coffee, Rum and Vanilla Ice Cream. The decadent and creamy texture with a light alcoholic punch was satisfying enough.
