Kori King Singapore at The Cathay – Super Affordable Japanese Shaved Ice

If you have been forking out over $10 for Kakigori, you will be thrilled to know that Koriking at The Cathay probably sells one of the most affordable Kakigori in Singapore, only at $5.90.

There are eight kinds of flavours ranging from the classics like Matcha Haven, Black Sesame and Tiramisu, fruity ones like Strawberry Wonder and Mango Royal to interesting creations like Gula Melaka, Sour Plum and Peanut Butter.

Each topping is an additional $1. There are tapioca pearls, azuki beans, crushed peanuts, kiwis and so on to choose from.

We had the Matcha Kakigori $5.90, topped up with fresh chopped strawberries $1.

The shaved ice was very fluffy and soft, gently infused with the in-house milk that didn’t overpower the whole taste. I loved it even more that the ice didn’t melt fast and the matcha taste was evident within.

Towards the bottom of the Matcha kakigori were several mochi balls; small and chewy.

Besides Kakigori, Koriking also serves Dorayaki $2.50, a traditional Japanese favourite.

Conveniently located near schools like Singapore Management University (SMU) and School of the Arts (SOTA), students now have a more affordable break-time or after-school dessert option at Koriking.
