KFC Shoyu Crunch Fried Chicken Review & Marshmallow Chocolate Hazelnut Egg Tart gets a festive upgrade

Introducing the new KFC Shoyu Crunch, dig into these crispy, juicy fried chicken, marinated in spicy shoyu sauce, fragrant seaweed and sesame seeds. Also, it’s said that the vibrant colour comes from the red breading that’s uniquely made with natural colouring from hibiscus and paprika.

The chicken looked very red, but it was hardly spicy. I like that the skin remained crispy though it was delivered to my house. There was a tinge of brininess probably from the seasoning (seaweed and Shoyu). Nonetheless, I found that it tasted quite bland after a few more bites.

KFC is actually one of my favourite fast food brands. But, this Shoyu Crunch seems to miss the mark.

From 25 November onwards, you can enjoy the KFC Shoyu Crunch a la carte $3.65 or as a set (from $8.95).

The classic Shoyu Crunch Meal $8.95 comes with two pieces of Shoyu Crunch Chicken, one regular Whipped Potato, one regular Coleslaw, and one regular SJORA Mango Peach. Add on a Marshmallow Chocolate Hazelnut Egg Tart at $1.50 each or $5.5 for four pieces.

Meanwhile, with the social distancing safety measures in place and lack of travelling options, KFC has come up with a creative immersive dining booth where you can have a feel of Japan, surrounded by the scenic Mount Fuji.

You can find this immersive booth at 10 selected KFC restaurants – Ang Mo Kio Hub, Compass One, Funan Mall, Jurong Point, Kallang Stadium, NEX, North Point City, Plaza Singapura, Toa Payoh and Waterway Point.
