Kettlebell – Pink Cafe for Healthy Brunch & Rice Bowls in Plaza Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

Where else can you get to order from a pink menu for a pink latte and have your food served on pink plates too? Even the plants have pink pots.

Kettlebell is an almost all-pink cafe, about a 15-20 minutes drive from Pavilion KL, depending on traffic. Plus, it is also one of those places you can dine guilt-free and have your flatlays done. The tables are beautiful marbles.

Not sure why the use of pink but the baby pink hue are comforting to the eyes. There’s no indoor seating because the cafe is situated beside the entrance to a gym. And that is also another reason for their menu to be filled with nutritious Protein-packed Dishes, healthy Snacks like the Overnight Oats RM12 and Peanut Butter Banana Toast RM12, Supercharged Smoothies and Coffee with options to change to oat, almond or soy milk.

You can DIY your own salad or rice bowl RM17 or simply choose from four curated rice bowls such as the Strike Duck Rice Bowl RM25 and Local Chic Rice Bowl RM25. Options include adding Quinoa RM8, Sous Vide Chicken Breast RM8, Hard Boiled Egg/ 63-degree Egg RM2, Wholesome Toast RM2, Brown Rice RM3, Beetroot/ Red Pepper Hummus RM3 and Avocado RM8. Most of these are my favourite items!

Kickstart your day with three signature mains: Quinoa Heaven RM22 with a bountiful of tri-colour organic quinoa, kale and more, Avo Good Day RM22 and Fire Caponata RM18.

Whether you like the colour or beetroot or both, it’s worth trying still. The Pink Latte RM12 is made of dehydrated beetroot with steamed milk. It was thick with a creamy texture and earthy notes… and healthier than your caffeinated drinks, of course.

It was a struggle to pick the lucky dish from the menu because they all looked so GOOD!

In the end, I settled for the Avo Good Day which comes with smashed avocado slathered over two wholemeal toast, crowned by the corn salad and spicy tomato salsa. Halved cherry tomatoes sat daintily on one piece of the toast while the sous vide egg laid on another, before the cascading of green pea sprouts, marking the dish ready to be served.

I was looking forward to a pink plate (some dishes have it pink) but that would have marred the pink beetroot hummus.

That aside, the perfectly done sous vide egg letting out a golden river was literally foodporn.

Not wasting a moment, I dug in.

I had a soft spot for avocado toast and this was delicious, except that the toast could be more toasted for a better bite. I never had green pea sprouts in any of my breakfast/brunch dishes before and this was a first. I ate it with the rest of the ingredients as it had a bitterness to it that I thought could blend better with the root vegetables.

There was something about the corns that made me finish in a heartbeat.

I would have ordered a side of the spicy tomato salsa if there was an option. This was the star on the plate.  That tangy marinade marrying the succulent chopped tomato made the dish really refreshing.

I can feel myself gushing right now but I still have to add that the beetroot hummus was a satisfying companion that had me mopping the plate clean.

The Avo Good Day has charmed my socks off. You can’t get this at RM22 = $7.24 (RM1 = SGD0.33 as of 16 Dec) in Singapore; there would be mad queues if we had it less than $10. Plus, not every place can be as generous as Kettlebell. The other dishes on the menu looked as inviting and now I am so stoked to try them all.
