Japan Gourmet Hall SORA Food Guide for Ramen, Tonkatsu, Maze Don & Souffle Pancake at Changi Airport T1

Japanese food aficionados travelling in and out of Changi Airport can now get their fix at not one, but two terminals. Following the success of Japan Gourmet Hall SORA at Changi Airport Terminal 3, a second outlet has opened its doors at Terminal 1.

Helmed by the ANA Group, SORA’s second outlet features mouthwatering dishes by beloved Japanese brands. They are Ikkousha, Yoshimi and Megumi Maru.

Slurp up delicious Yatai-style ramen from Ikkousha, a wildly popular restaurant that first opened in 2004. Each bowl features ramen cooked perfectly al dente, along with chashu, egg, and bamboo shoots.

The classic Special Tonkotsu Ramen ($18.70) is rich and creamy, while stronger flavours abound in the Special Red Chilli Ramen ($20.90) and Special Black Garlic Ramen ($20.90), both of which will certainly tingle your tastebuds.

Megumi Maru is Singapore’s first ever maze don concept created by Misaki Megumi Suisan, a wholesaler of fresh maguro and sashimi from Kagawa Prefecture in Japan. Tuck into healthy and delicious maze cones like Kaisen Maze Don in Uni Sauce ($18.80) and Aburitoro Maze Don ($35.10).

Sushi lovers will also delight in the Maguro Mentai Roll ($15.90).

Katsu curry specialist Yoshimi is another brand that is venturing overseas for the first time at SORA.

Hailing from Sapporo, Hokkaido, Yoshimi serves up comforting curry rice, katsu rice, and katsu curry, among others. The Pork Loin Katsu Rice Set ($23.80) is substantial and boasts aromatic pork katsu that is surprisingly tender.

For something extra indulgent, go for the Mille- feuille Katsu Set ($26.80), which boasts a whopping 16-layer pork cutlet.

The Omurice Curry ($16) is another belly-warming creation consisting of fluffy white rice blanketed in a runny omelette and a sea of Japanese curry. Yoshimi uses a special blend of over 15 herbs and spices to tantalise diners with a mix of flavours!

Dessert cravings are easily fulfilled with the Mixed Berry Pancake ($19.90) and Hokkaido Soft Serve Ice Cream ($6.90). The pancakes embody the ultimate fuwa fuwa fantasy for jiggly food lovers, with the tartness of the berries cutting through the rich cream. The Hokkaido Soft-Serve Ice Cream is delightfully rich, yet light.
