Indian Express, a concept by The Song of India, offers affordable Northern Indian & Indian-Chinese Cuisine

Situated amongst Little India’s dizzying array of restaurants and eateries along Race Course Road, Indian Express offers home-style Northern Indian and Indian-Chinese favourites. Managed by the same team behind Michelin-starred The Song of India, Indian Express styles itself as a casual dining concept that also celebrates affordable prices.

Helmed by executive chef Umed Singh, an alumnus of The Song of India and protege, chef Majunath Mural, Indian Express’ menu is a curation of the best home-style dishes from Northern India.

For starters, the Kashmiri Lamb Wazwan ($14) and Tandoori Mixed Grill Platter ($19) are heartily plated servings that will whet the appetites of the most ardent carnivores. Every bite of lamb kebab, chicken, and fish is well prepared and tastefully seasoned, using only the best cuts of meat. Overall, a lip-smacking delicious dish that can be enjoyed with a cold, refreshing pint.

The characteristically rich flavours of Northern-Indian cuisine comes to the fore with the main dishes. The Palak Paneer ($10), Butter Chicken ($14), and Muglai Fish Curry ($12) are generously portioned and richly flavoured, with fresh ingredients that are plump and scrumptious. Perfect with a selection of naan, which includes classics like Garlic ($3), Butter ($3), and healthier options like Whole Wheat ($3).

The Royal Chicken Dum Briyani ($12) is hearty and intense, with a take-no-prisoner level of spiciness that lets you know you’re sampling the real deal.

For dessert, look no further than Carrot Halwa ($4.50) and Masala Tea ($3), two classic fixtures of Northern Indian sweets.
