House of Seafood 螃蟹之家 – Unique Crab Flavours like Milo, Oreo, Garlic, Curry and Fruit

When it comes to crabs, we would usually think of the local favourite chilli crab and black pepper crab. Occasionally there would be someone at the table who requests an order of the butter crab or cereal crab, perhaps?

Speaking of black pepper crab, House of Seafood 螃蟹之家 is famous for it. It went back a long history to the period when the restaurant first opened its door to the public. The black pepper crab was one of the first few dishes to be cooked and sold to diners. Since then, more cooking styles for the crabs were introduced. You would be surprised because currently, House of Seafood has created a range of unique flavours for the crabs you probably wouldn’t find anywhere else in Singapore!

Think Stylo Milo Crab, Creamy Oreo Crab, Zesty Fruitti Crab, Garlicious Crab and Curry ‘O’ Crab. Who would have expected Milo and Oreo in a savoury dish?

The Stylo Milo Crab and Creamy Oreo Crab was presented with crumbs of milo and oreo sprinkled over the butter crabs respectively. The buttery sauce was rich and creamy and, together with the crumbs, it sent a wave of sweetness to our taste buds.

Drenched in a rich, aromatic layer of coconut-infused lava, the Curry ‘O’ Crab is one to inflict pleasurable burns on the tongues of diners. The crab meats could be gently nudged from their shells while dripping wet from the gravy. It was satisfying tasty and I wish we had some mantou to lap up every morsels of the gravy.

Tuck into the  Zesty Fruitti Crab drenched in a shiny coat of sweet and sourish sauce, with flavours further accentuated from the slices of citrusy fruits.

How about a portion of the Garlicious Crab? The sight of several garlics lying on the crabs set off the alarms in me. I was glad the fear of a garlicky pungent smell was dispelled the moment I sinked my teeth into those flesh. The taste of garlics was mild and hinted at a little fragrance as the meats tore from the shell.

Before you start feasting on the crabs, you will be provided with an apron and and gloves to keep your clothes and fingers clean throughout the meal.

Good news! House of Seafood has her own version of ready-to-eat crabs which come in three flavours: chilli, black pepper and salted egg yolk. Each box contains aprons, gloves and one kg crab in a microwavable container that requires only five minutes to be heated up. Fuss-free and perfect even as gifts for delivering overseas.
