Hai Di Lao Hotpot 海底捞火锅 for Late-Night Supper in Singapore

Whether you are suffering from 3am hunger pangs or looking for a late dinner, Hai Di Lao Hotpot 海底捞火锅 remains dutifully opened for a steamy hotpot affair. Besides operating till the wee hours in the morning, it is also conveniently located in the town district like 313 Somerset and Plaza Singapura.

If you are expecting Hai Di Lao to die off as merely a hype, try visiting during meal times and you will find diners flooding the waiting area munching on complimentary tidbits or relaxing in massage chair courtesy of the restaurant. Somehow, braving the queue could be this rewarding too.

The Tomato Soup at Hai Di Lao is to die for. Thick and rich in flavour, the fragrance of the tomato soup leaped through the bobbling surface while its velvety smooth texture caressed my taste bud. The soup was addictive and it felt like I was really drinking tomato soup.

We also had the Mala Soup, and you could request less spicy for easy drinking. The spice level was manageable for me and as someone who love spicy stuff to the moon and back, I found myself gravitating towards the tomato soup instead. The tomato soup is probably what keep people returning for!

The Beef and Lamb Platter $24 was worth the money for the generous portion of sliced meats. The beef was not bad; tender upon cooked.

Treat yourself to a buffet of seasoning at $4 per pax where you can DIY your own sauce from the array of chilli sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, onions, parsley, fermented beancurd and more. Pickles, side dishes like porridge and desserts are included too.

Lettuce $6

There were a lot of ingredients to choose from, with a choice of half or full portion for most of the dishes too.

Ingredients were generally fresh and well-presented to diners.

Homemade Noodles
Sticky Rice Dessert $3

For ladies who dine at Hai Di Lao, you can make an appointment for a manicure session. Though the waiting time can last up to hours, you can either go shopping in the mall and return when your turn is up or simply collect a ticket to reserve for another day.

If you are wondering what makes Hai Di Lao so popular despite its hefty price tag, it is the impeccable service rendered to diners, even comparable to a fine dining restaurant.

It is amazing how we don’t feel being watched yet the staffs are able to tend to our needs efficiently. Besides, they are really courteous and make us the whole dining experience warm and welcoming.
