Guess what? Churreria La Lola has opened its first international store in none other than Singapore! Their innovative and delicious churro sticks and unique beverages are a hit with around 15 stores in the Philippines since the opening of its first store in 2012 by three Spanish entrepreneurs. As of November 2018, it secured a cosy spot in The Central, located just around the corner of Clarke Quay MRT.
With a homely granny as a mascot, deliciously fried churros cooked in 100% olive oil, and sprightly colours – you can’t not want to step into the shop, especially with the fried churro aroma wafting outside… luring curious people in! These golden sticks are crisp on the outside and absolutely doughy-soft-chewy on the inside. It’s unlike the kind of churros that’s a tad too hard and crunchy. When you first bite into a Churreria La Lola stick, it’s light yet crispy in texture. We love it!
These holders can be inserted into a hole in the table made especially for the cones! You can even hang two kinds of dips along the sides.
Your classic sticks of churros won’t be complete without a few dips to go along with them. Churreria La Lola has five different types of dips: Signature (chocolate), Dark, Matcha, Purple Yam and Cream Cheese. We loved Signature, Dark, Matcha, and thought that the addition of purple yam was an interesting choice. It’s got a strong yam taste that won’t let yam lovers down!
The cream cheese didn’t quite work for us, though we’re pretty sure there are people who love it nonetheless. We’d classify Cream Cheese and Purple Yam as the more savoury-flavoured dips. Most of the people take to the sweet dips more readily.
These colourful churros are sweet and delightful! There are the Clasicos (original), Dark (chocolate), White (chocolate), Matcha, and Strawberry. You can mix and match them if you wish. The original hot and fresh classic churros (Clasicos) are sold in sets of 3, 6, 12, or 18 pieces. Whether it’s for you and a friend or for a party – Churreria La Lola tries to cater for all occasions!
We tried a sampling of the pork floss churros next.
Check out the original size of the pork floss churros! They’re called XUXOS, and they go for $8.00 per churro. There are Pork Floss, Nutella, Dulce de Leche, and Banana Nutella flavours. Just look at the cream stuffing!
What are you waiting for? It’s time to get your churros fix for tea-time or during your office’s tea break. These golden sticks are really worth giving a shot!
