D2TLLRY: Craft Cocktails, Donburis and Japanese Bar Bites In CBD

Headed over to the newly opened D2TLLRY while its first outlet DSTLLRY at Media Circle is still in the midst of a revamp. Specialising in donburis, small bites, sweets and bespoke/craft cocktails, we know we are in for a good night.

No leaving this place without a drink! There is a range of sake, wines, beers and and cocktails for your selection. Happy hour starts from 5PM to 7PM for selected drinks too.

Dark rustic looking interior which resembles an underground drinking hole. I had almost wished for a live band screaming songs from Linkin Park.

Not on the menu, this was a special request as I saw it on Instagram and brought it up to the staff.

The Crab Cake ($18) was two round perfect darlings with a crispy coating. The fillings were surprisingly moist and creamy from the crab stuffings.

Served with mentaiko mayonnaise, the slight sweetness blended well with the savouriness of the crab cake. Prices may come hefty for two pieces, but hey it was so tasty one was not enough!

Since donburi is their specialty, then we must try it.

Had the Barachirashi Don ($20) and we ain’t regretting.

The ingredients, consisting of a variety of fishes, were piled high on the rice. They were really fresh and paired with the Ikura that popped with every bite. Satisfying enough.

With 14 cocktails on the list, I have to say I had a tough time choosing because all of them sounded so intriguing.

Sticking to my favourite base, i.e. Whisky, I decided to go for the Black Wood Negroni ($25) made of Hinoki infused Nikka from the barrel, sweet Vermouth and Gran Classico Bitter.

I was probably even more astounded when the Negroni arrived. Appearing to be completely black, yet a sight to behold. The huge ice cube had its surface sliced in various angles, allowing it to reflect lights in all directions. Not forgetting, the gold flakes right on top added a touch of elegance and delicacy.

While Negroni may seem like a gentlemen’s drink, this version of Black Wood Negroni held a soft side to it, almost sentimental and craving for the desire to be admired beyond it’s appearance.

It was uncanny that my dining partner had a cocktail of that same shade of colour, i.e. Moonlight Shadow ($23) of White Rum, Tio Pepe Dry Sherry, Lime, Elderflower Syrup and Charcoal.

Served in a standing glass, the lighting above us cast a shadow of the drink on the table. Again, aptly named and sophisticated with a smooth finish.

Conveniently located near Raffles Place MRT, office workers would be thrilled to find D2TLLRY, a new addition within the vicinity of their offices. Perhaps an occasional indulgence or after work drinks? D2TLLRY is the place to look forward to.
