Butter Bean (VivoCity) – BBrulee Kopi Latte, Creative Butter Toasts & SG-style Omurice

A creative concept by BreadTalk Group, Butter Bean opened its flagship outlet at Funan on 28 August 2020 and a second outlet at VivoCity on 10 September 2020.

Spotting a vibrant and cheery yellow interior, Butter Bean seeks to attract a younger crowd, especially through its fresh menu of contemporary Nanyang coffee-based beverages, toasts with a twist, and classic local hot favourites, bakes and sandwiches.

Meanwhile, Butter Bean also offers an online ‘Order & Pay’ system for contactless coffee runs where you simply have to scan a QR code to order, pay and pick-up.

Butter Bean uses a custom blend of Arabica and Robusta beans roasted via the Torrefacto method.

Coffee-based options include the BBrûlée Kopi Latte $3.20 topped with salted cream foam, and the interesting Gula Melaka-infused G.M. Kopi BBliss $3.50 in frappe version.

There are also tea alternatives – BBrûlée Teh Latte $3.20 and G.M. Teh BBliss $3.50.

Pair it with Butter Bean’s signature inch-thick butter loaf that comes toasted with a nice crisp edge. Choose from a total of eight different unique spreads (from $2) ranging from the savoury Omu Cheese $4.20 and Flossy Chick $2.80 to PB & J $2.8, Cheeky Choco $2.80 and Say Cheese $2.80.

Top up $3 to make it a set that is served with your choice of Half Boiled or Molten egg and a regular cup of hot Nanyang-brewed Kopi/Teh, and an additional $0.50 and $0.70 for a large cup of hot Kopi/Teh and specialty drinks respectively.

For something heartier, tuck into the B.F.F Battered Fried Fish $4.60, C.F.C Crispy Fried Chicken $4.60 or Basic Ham and Cheese $4.20 paired with your choice of one sauce (Black Pepper, Sesame, Thousand Island and Curry). Each hot pocket is stuffed with a delectable trio of omelette, sliced cheese and butterhead lettuce.

Add $2.20 to make it into a sandwich set, served with a choice of iced Kopi or Teh Latte. Top-up $0.70 for specialty drinks.

The mains are as equally satisfying.

The Curry On Sunshine $6.80 might seem like the typical Japanese Omurice, but taste-wise, it delivers a spicy kick from the Singapore-style curry, well-accompanied with tender chicken thigh and a blanket of perfectly-made runny scrambled egg.

Made with a combination of chicken broth, prawn heads and hae bee (dried shrimps), Hey You Hae Mee $6.80 is a flavourful bowl of soup served with a generous portion of yellow noodles and bee hoon, and crunchy fried Dahfa dried fish bits in place of pork lard.

Add $2.20 to make it into a set, served with a choice of iced Kopi or Teh Latte. Top-up $0.70 for specialty drinks.

The bakery section boasts a selection of Nanyang-inspired freshly-baked buns ($1.60 each; $4 for three buns) such as the Choco-nana, Pandan Coco and Kopi Oh, and muffins too.
