Bev C’afe in Johor Bahru – Fashion, Matcha Desserts & OOTD Spots

Bev C is a clothing label, with the name derived from duo founders Beverly and Cally in 2013. At first glance, one would have expected this two-storey shophouse to be a home grown fashion brand bearing clothes that shout individualism. The first floor spelt of rustic-ness and assumed an industrial chic look while rows of neatly arranged garments lined within the perimeters of the store. A staircase led us up to a cafe which saw a crowd on a Saturday morning.

We were lucky to snag a space surrounded by a nice backdrop of books, shelves and ornaments. Mismatched chairs became our seats and soon we started poring over the menu of coffee, tea, cakes and brunch food.

We had the Lemon Strawberry Pie, Matcha Pie and Earl Grey Dark Chocolate. The Matcha Pie was unique with what seemed to be mounted on a charcoal crust. The fillings were rich in taste and the matcha powder dusted over would make biting it really messy.

The Earl Grey Dark Chocolate was a beautiful dome-shaped cake with a brush of galaxy across the glossy surface, Within it was thick gooey dark chocolate with a peanut butter core. Earl grey taste was barely prominent though.

Matcha milk with Espresso Iced Cube had a fabulous profile. Didn’t know that matcha and coffee could go hand-in-hand. The matcha milk was smooth and rich, with a sweetness that complemented the bitterness of the espresso. It was a well-balanced drink overall.

Bev C is a great spot for OOTD too! It made one felt like he/she was having a chilling tea break in a garden away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
