I have always love avocados and they make great pairings with a whole lot of other food. This soft creamy superfood could also be your substitute for sweet fatty snacks and oily fried food. Avocados can be eaten with salads, as a spread over toast or even blended with milk into a smoothie. They can make you feel fuller faster so you won’t be overeating as well.
Before starting on a recipe, we have to choose the right (ripe) avocados!
A ripe avocado that is ready to be eaten should have a soft dark-brown colour and feels slightly soft when touched.
The green ones are usually firm and will take 2-4 days to ripe. Following which, they turn green-brown and requires another 1-2 days to ripe.
When avocados are soft(er), it makes smashing them into a creamy spread easier.
Avocado Breakfast Toast
- 2 ripe avocados
- 2 wholegrain toast
- A handful of cheese slices
- A handful of oats
- Ground black pepper
- Dug out the avocado flesh from their shells into a bowl (Use 1 1/2 avocado)
- Add cheese slices
- Smash them to achieve a creamy texture
- Spread the paste over two slices of toast
- Sprinkle oat
- Slice the remaining half of the avocado into pieces
- Laid the avocado over the avocado toast
- Sprinkle black pepper
- Optional: Toast in the oven for 5 minutes for crustier bread and a cheesier avocado paste
